Erin Brockovich Redux?

Written by

The Environmental Protection Agency has announced it’s spending $3 million dollars to install monitoring wells in the San Fernando Valley. The reason? Fears of Chromium 6, the industrial chemical made famous by Erin Brockovich (and Julia Roberts) and her crusade to investigate the contamination of groundwater supplies in the small desert community of Hinckley.

Closer to L.A. chromium six (or “chrom 6” to the the chemical hipsters call it) was used by San Fernando Valley airplane manufacturers during the golden age of the Southland’s aerospace industry, and it’s feared an enormous plume of it lurks beneath the homes and businesses of Burbank, North Hollywood and other San Fernando Valley communities. The EPA will reveal its finding late next year.
