vetoed a bill that would have allowed women to be paid for donating their eggs to medical research. The measure would have reversed a ban on the practice that was put in place six years ago.
Democratic State Senator Susan Bonilla introduced the bill, presenting it as a matter of women’s rights and gender equality.
But groups that are both for and against abortion access have expressed concerns about the ethics of egg donation and the impacts on women’s health.
