The United States was founded by young people

Many of us think of America’s Founding Fathers as stodgy old white-hair, wig-wearing centenarians. But in fact, some of them were quite young, like in their 20s and 30s.

Todd Andrlik wrote “Reporting the Revolutionary War” and edits Journal of the American Revolution.

Slate published an article of his today about how old American founders actually were when the Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4, 1776.

While the average age of the signers of the Declaration was 44, more than a dozen of them were 35 or younger.

Andrlik spoke to KCRW’s Steve Chiotakis about it.
