There is no risk on the West Coast from radiation released by the Fukushima nuclear disaster three years ago – and there never was. That’s the word from state scientists in California. They’ve released a strongly-worded statement to dispel worries stemming from new on-line videos that claim California beaches are being inundated with radiation from the Japanese nuclear accident. State officials say radiation levels are going down and even at their peak never approached levels that could harm human health. The scientists say tuna caught off the West Coast contains less radiation than one would get from an X-Ray or eating banana…Disgraced former Bell City Manager Robert Rizzo is due back in court today. This time it’s federal court, where Rizzo is expected to plead guilty to filing bogus federal tax returns. The money to reopen them comes from Measure L, a ballot initiative passed by city voters in 2011. Chief Librarian John Szabo says Sunday hours are especially important because it’s the day parents are most likely to spend time with their children…AMHUSTLEThe Hollywood awards season is off and running. “American Hustle” walked off with three trophies during last night’s Golden Globes ceremony in Beverly Hills – for best comedy or musical and for best lead and supporting actress honors in a comedy or musical for Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence. “12 Years a Slave” won just one award, but it was a biggie – for Best Film Drama.
