Santa Barbara columnist talks “Montecito Miscellany”

Richard Mineards spotlights many of Santa Barbara’s cultural happenings and local celebrity doings in his weekly Montecito Journal column, ‘Montecito Miscellany.’ He recently stopped by our KCRW Santa Barbara studio to dish on news from recent columns.

Mineards reminded KCRW listeners to take advantage of the world class Italian Masterpiece exhibition at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art. “Botticelli, Titian and Beyond: Masterpieces of Italian Paintings from Glasgow Museums,” featuring works that span 300+ years (from the late 1400s-1800s), is only on display through May 3, 2015.

In his chat, Mineards also talked about a Montecito filmmaker’s plan to make a documentary on artist Andy Warhol. Apparently a Warhol painting, currently tucked away in a Santa Barbara bank vault, was the inspiration for the film.

Richard also explains how the recent Santa Barbara Symphony show “Impressions of Spain” almost didn’t go on as planned.
