Garcetti on protests: “I hope the president can hear us in Washington DC”

Nearly eight thousand protestors marched peacefully through downtown Los Angeles Saturday to protest president-elect Donald Trump. “I’ll do it everyday if I have to,” said one marcher, who held a sign saying “American Travesty.”

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti talked to KCRW’s Steve Chiotakis about LA’s protests in the wake of Donald Trump’s election. “It’s encouraging to see Americans exercising their patriotic responsibility and feeling about an election,” he said. “What is important to us is to show a peaceful protest and transition of power, but also that we’ll be unyielding about our values.”

Garcetti added, “stay off the freeways.”
