The sound of my two-year-old niece singing and strumming the guitar might be the cutest thing she’s done yet. It’s not just Gia or her singing that make the moment special, though. It’s also the guitar. It belongs to my brother who used it to write most of his music. For reasons that now seem extinct, my brother has chosen to distance himself from my family. Years of alienation have caused him to miss out on meeting Gia or seeing her grow. I suppose in my eyes, her playing with his guitar is their way of finally meeting.
